Acupuncture and carpal
tunnel syndrome

Acupuncture and carpal tunnel syndrome
An initial study suggested that more work was needed on the potential of laser and transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation (TENS) on acupuncture points to reduce and remove pain. When eleven patients with carpal tunnel syndrome were either treated or 'sham-treated' with red-beam laser or TENS on acupuncture points, they all experienced reduction in pain and were able to return to work.
  • The effect of the treatment lasted 1-3 years

  • The patients had not responded to conventional treatment for the condition
