Babies with a cordless baby monitor in their bedroom appear to
cry more, be more irritable and sleep worse than babies monitored
by a wired monitor or babies without a baby monitor. So reports
an informal survey by Powerwatch UK.
Parents also noted that their baby’s sleep and mood improved
when a cordless monitor was replaced by a wired monitor or electronic
monitoring was abandoned altogether.
The finding is worrying, but no surprise. A cordless (DECT) monitor
in a baby’s bedroom exposes them to as much pulsing microwave
radiation as someone using a cordless telephone and more radiation
than living close to a mobile phone base station.
