All microwave ovens emit microwave electromagnetic
radiation, even the latest designs
If you drop or overheat your oven, and
as it wears, it may begin to leak more and more microwave radiation
Get the oven serviced, and the strength of
the microwave field it emits measured, annually. You are very
unlikely to find a service engineer who knows about microwave
fields, so you will need to find an EMF consultant
Never open the door while the oven is
on
Stand at least three feet away (especially
children) from the oven when it is in use to minimise the cumulative
effects of long-term low-level exposure
Avoid microwaving frozen foods and commercially
prepared meals, and always remove them from their plastic/waxed
paper containers before cooking. Glass cookware certified safe
for microwaves is the best option
Discourage the most vulnerable people
- growing children, people with an illness and older people
- from eating microwaved food or using a microwave
Be aware that the majority of restaurant
food is now microwaved in large commercial ovens. Always ask
before ordering if it is important for you
