Scientists now recommend that sunscreens must protect against UVA as well as UVB light. It was originally thought that UVA only made harmless skin changes such as tanning. Now it is also suspected of increasing UVB's ability to cause skin cancers.

It's official
Virtually no sunscreens give full protection against ultraviolet light. The National Radiological Protection Board also warned that substances used in some sunscreens may actually increase the risk.
