Twenty-seven times the risk of autism
According to the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC)'s own records,
having three vaccinations containing thimerosal increased a child's
risk of developing autism twentysevenfold, making the health risk
from having certain childhood vaccinations much higher than that,
say, of developing lung cancer from smoking, which is twentytwofold
for men and elevenfold for women.
It took researchers David and Mark Geier a year and a half to
gain full access to the CDC data. They found the same link between
thimerosal and vaccine as they had found in their own
research but much worse once the data was compiled.
(Their research had found a fivefold increased risk.)
The Geiers hoped to submit their new findings to peer review then
publish them soon.
Thimerosal-autism whitewash. Tics and speech delay possible
An analysis of the vaccination history and health outcomes of
124,170 US infants born 1992-1999 found no evidence of any link
between thimerosal and autism, but did find evidence that thimerosal
in vaccines nearly doubled children’s risk of developing
tics and slightly increased (13%) their risk of delayed speech
development. Further research is planned.
Commenting on the study, Mark Geier revealed that:
-
the lead researcher Thomas Verstraeten worked for GlaxoSmithKline,
the manufacturers of thimerosal- containing vaccines
-
the results of the study were discussed at a secret meeting
between the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and GlaxoSmithKline,
where the possibility of massaging the data to minimise
embarrassing findings was discussed
-
the transcripts of the meeting, obtained through the US
Freedom of Information Act, revealed that a significant
link between thimerosal-containing vaccinations and autism
and other neurodevelopmental disorders had been found
